Woodlot W1610 History

Woodlot 1610 was originally awarded to Rolf and Markus Kellerhauls and Grant Hayden in 1998. The woodlot consists of two parcels of public land on Quadra Island: one located near the community of Copper Bluffs on the island's west side, overlooking North Campbell River, and the other on the east side near September Creek.

In 2011, Grant Hayden was recognized by the British Columbia Ministry of Forests for Excellence in Woodlot Management, reflecting the high standard of stewardship practiced on the woodlot.

In 2026, Woodlot 1610 was transferred to Paul Nimmon of Lukwa Enterprises Ltd., based on Quadra Island. Paul and his wife, Annik Dumouchel, bring more than 35 years of experience in silviculture, having provided forest stewardship services for local woodlots, First Nations, and the Special Management Zone 19 forests on Quadra Island.

Deeply rooted in the Quadra Island community, Paul and Annik have dedicated countless hours to volunteering with local organizations while building their business and raising their three daughters—Amelia, Juliette, and Savannah.

Woodlot 1610 is truly a family enterprise. All three daughters have grown up helping with the work, from planting and tending forests to supporting day-to-day operations. When they're not in the woods, the family can be found at their Granite Bay home, caring for orchards and gardens or enjoying a swim in the lake. Their commitment to sustainable forestry, stewardship, and community reflects the values they bring to the ongoing management of Woodlot 1610.
