Chantal Blumel & Ken Dodd

WL W2031 is family run woodlot licence located in the northeast portion of Quadra Island. It is bounded by three parks – Main Lake Provincial Park; Newton Lake Park; and Octopus Islands Provincial Park. It is held and managed by Ken Dodd and Chantal Blumel, both Registered Professional Foresters (RPFs).

We have held WL W2031 since 2010, and are proud to be part of the woodlot licence community on Quadra Island.

Chantal has worked for government, industry and consultants in the area and fell in love with the mid coast while working there in the 1990’s. Ken grew up on northern Vancouver Island and has long called the region home.

Our two daughters have been raised with the WL as part of their lives. The two large lakes – Hummingbird Lake and Wolf Lake - were named with input from them. As a family we have hiked all over the WL, to both big lakes, down to the ocean, and up to the viewpoints. We love our WL.

We are managing the WL for many values, trying to balance biodiversity, forest management, recreation, and safety, among others. We enjoy the potential for creativity in managing the WL. Life has thrown some curve balls, but we look forward to moving to the area and becoming even more engaged with the community in the future.
